Alpiq InTec Milano masters a major technical building services contract

During the construction of the Italian Boscolo Group’s newest hotel building, Alpiq InTec Milano SpA demonstrated all its knowhow. The energy service experts were responsible for the design, installation and maintenance of all the technical systems.

A few steps from the future Milanese Expo 2015 grounds, the Boscolo Group has erected a new hotel. The B4 (today: Hotel Barceló) not only looks good, but also contains the very latest technical systems. These were developed and installed by Alpiq InTec Milano. In addition, Boscolo has contracted the energy services experts to carry out the maintenance of the facilities.

Impressive: Hundreds of kilometres of cable and thousands of kilos of pipes

A team of 80 specialists headed by Paolo Dadda successfully implemented the large-scale assignment within 16 months. The associated figures are impressive: For example, the total weight of the pipes installed in the liquid supply and distribution systems, which is 110 000 kilograms. Or the 210 000 cubic metres per hour combined flow rate of the ten high-performance air-conditioning systems, which regulate the climate in the lobby, reception, spa area, lounge, kitchens and restaurants. All the electrically operated facilities and thousands of light sources are supplied with electricity through 100 kilometres of cable ducts and 230 kilometres of cable. The fire protection system in the parking garage is equipped with a smoke and gas detection system with 4000 sensors. And nothing evades the access control and burglar alarm system with its 42 surveillance cameras. Paolo Dadda looks back on the assignment with satisfaction: “Our philosophy is to optimise the costs for our customer, without scrimping on technology. In this project, we did this very successfully. For similar projects in Turin and Parma, we will again rely on this philosophy.”
