Atel focuses more closely on energy policy

On 1 December 2004 Berne economist Stefan Aeschimann will take up his appointment to the newly-created post of Head of Corporate Public Affairs at Aare-Tessin Ltd. for Electricity (Atel). His principal function will be to advise senior management on politically relevant matters.

Stefan Aeschimann: new Head of Corporate Public Affairs

Stefan Aeschimann, now 43, graduated from the University of St. Gallen in business management, writing his dissertation on management consultancy. From 1992 until 2003 he was a civil servant, working in different functions in three departments of the Swiss federal government. From 1992 to 1996 he was a personal assistant to Federal Councillor Adolf Ogi in the Department of Transport and Energy, from 1996 to 1999 he was Chief of Staff in the Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sports, and from 1999 to 2003 he was Secretary-General of the Department of Economic Affairs. Since 2003 he has been Head of Political Issue Management for Flughafen Zürich AG, the company that operates Zurich airport.

Energy policy at Atel has hitherto been dealt with as part of Corporate Communications. The appointment of Stefan Aeschimann as Head of Corporate Public Affairs marks the separation of the two units.
