Lausanne – Peter-Wim Gerssen has been confirmed by the Board of Directors as Alpiq's new Chief Financial Officer. The 53-year-old Dutch citizen brings extensive leadership experience, particularly in the energy sector. Gerssen will succeed current Alpiq Group CFO Luca Baroni, who will be leaving the company later this year after more than four years in the role.

The Board of Directors of Alpiq Holding Ltd. has confirmed Peter-Wim Gerssen as the new CFO of the Alpiq Group. A business economist with a Master's in Business Science and an Executive Master from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Gerssen has held various international leadership positions in the energy sector in recent years, including roles in financial management, risk assessment and compliance. His previous roles include serving as CFO and, most recently, CEO of Shell Asset Management Company (SAMCo), based in The Hague.

Gerssen’s extensive background provides him with a strong understanding of the transformative financial and M&A strategies essential for his role as CFO. “With his extensive experience in transformation processes and M&A, his deep and proven expertise as CFO and his international perspective – combined with his strong commitment to value-based leadership – Peter-Wim is the ideal candidate to support Alpiq's strategy implementation, driving both growth and stability in the years ahead,” says Antje Kanngiesser, CEO of Alpiq. “I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Luca once again for his strong commitment, his many achievements, in particular in the sustainable stabilisation of Alpiq through debt reduction and refinancing, and for always being such a valuable colleague.”

Peter-Wim Gerssen adds: “I am very much looking forward to my new position at Alpiq, to the exciting challenges posed by the energy transition, and to contributing to the future of energy supply as part of a larger societal mission.”

The 53-year-old Dutch citizen is currently living with his family in The Hague. He will take over his position as CFO from Luca Baroni, who, as previously announced, will leave Alpiq at the end of October 2025, ensuring a seamless transition.
