Lausanne – Alpiq’s Head International and Member of the Executive Board, Lukas Gresnigt will take up the position of CEO at EPEX SPOT, the European spot power exchange. Until the end of 2025, he will hand over his tasks to allow a seamless and smooth transition. The process to recruit a successor has been initiated.
Since his arrival in April 2022, Lukas Gresnigt has played a pivotal role in refining Alpiq’s strategic direction, notably through the successful implementation of transformation initiatives and the consolidation of operations in Eastern Europe. He has consistently demonstrated leadership in business development, advancing Alpiq’s international asset and commercial activities, and pushing the company’s flexibility strategy forward through investments in BESS (battery energy storage systems) and the modernization of its existing thermal assets.
Alpiq CEO Antje Kanngiesser says: “Lukas’s dedication to focus on our core markets and his efforts to strengthen collaboration across business units have significantly improved Alpiq’s competitive standing,” in addition to that, Johannes Teyssen, Chairman of the Board of Directors, adds, “Lukas has reshaped our international business, initiated important efficiency upgrades of our power plants and was responsible for new investments into our assets. He made a decisive contribution to cultivating a robust safety culture, which now extends well beyond our power plants and has set new standards for the entire organization.” Alpiq continues to press ahead with the implementation of its strategy, focusing on flexible assets that facilitate the integration of wind and solar power into the energy system, and strengthening its trading and origination business.
