Within the Market Analysis team, Alpiq is hiring a Market Analyst, who will be supporting the analytical tasks focusing on strategy and long-term analysis. You will contribute to the development and establishment of a consistent pricing and valuation framework with the focus on forecasting long-term European ancillary service markets. This role is based in Lausanne, CH.
Your accountabilities- Model developments for ancillary services in relevant European power markets: Improve and/or setup new quantitative market models for power, in particular for ancillary services and intraday markets.
- Coordination of model interactions between existing wholesale market models and new ancillary service market models.
- Knowledge transfer of flexibility developments in the European power markets with the various internal and external stakeholders.
- Interaction with the Regulatory team to ensure inclusion of relevant regulatory developments in the analytical models.
- Market Intelligence: Execution of ad-hoc qualitative and / or quantitative power market analysis tasks. Monitoring of flexibility developments in the European power markets, such as investments in BESS and other flexible power generation/ consumption technologies. Comparisons and benchmarking with forecasts of external providers.
- Valuation support: Creation of evaluation concepts and tools in collaboration with quantitative analysts to ensure full alignment between forecasting and valuation methodology. Conduct independent market analysis and research in support of business ventures or investment decisions.
Your profile
- University degree in Economics, ideally with a PhD in Quantitative Modeling & Risk Analysis or Large-Scale Data Analysis
- Knowledge of the European energy markets, ideally in wholesale and ancillary service markets
- Preferably with experience in electricity market modelling
- Solid coding skills in Python and SQL
- Proactive thinker with good communication skills who can move things forward on his/her own
- Fluency in English
