OKA pressurised water reactor in the Gösgen nuclear power plant releases energy, which heats and evaporates a separate water circuit, generating the steam that rotates the turbines. The power plant covers around 15 percent of Switzerland’s electricity needs. The electricity production of the plant contributes a large part to the reliability of supply in Switzerland. The operator is Kernkraftwerk Gösgen-Däniken AG.
