OKAlpiq acquired the modern Csepel II gas-fired combined cycle power plant in 2002. The gas-fired power station, which was constructed in 2000, can cover around six percent of Hungary's total electricity requirement and provides a wide range of balancing services (GSS). Situated on the banks of the River Danube in Budapest, the power plant can operate on both gas and oil.
