Senior Investment Associate BESS

The Investment Associate supports end-to-end execution of M&A transactions across renewable energy & BESS platforms. The role anchors analytical rigor, valuation discipline, and process reliability throughout the deal cycle—ensuring high-quality investment decisions, structured execution, and consistent delivery against strategic return targets. Acting as a central enabler within the investment team, the Associate drives data-driven insights, supports due diligence, maintains investment governance standards, and ensures decision-ready outputs for senior leadership and Investment Committees.

Your responsibilities

1. Investment Analysis & Decision Support

  • Conduct financial modelling, scenario analysis, and valuation (DCF, IRR, NPV) to underpin transaction decisions.
  • Prepare investment cases, sensitivities, risk assessments, and value-creation analysis.
  • Consolidate technical, commercial, financial, legal into clear recommendations.
  • Ensure consistency, analytical rigor, and decision-ready documentation for IC submissions.
  • Maintain structured governance for deal processes, documentation standards, and internal approvals.

2. Due Diligence Coordination

  • Support and coordinate financial, commercial, technical, regulatory, and ESG due diligence streams.
  • Manage interfaces with advisors, developers, finance teams, and internal subject-matter experts.
  • Track diligence progress, open items, and risk mitigation measures to ensure full investment readiness.
  • Synthesise findings into concise, actionable insights for senior stakeholders.

3. Transaction Execution

  • Contribute to transaction structuring, including equity/debt considerations, returns optimisation, and risk allocation.
  • Support negotiations through analytical preparation, benchmarking, and scenario evaluation.
  • Prepare documentation for internal stakeholders, board-level briefings, and external partners.
  • Ensure timely closure of key workstreams, actions, and deliverables across all internal and external parties.

4. Portfolio Monitoring & Performance Management

  • Monitor financial and operational performance of assets under management.
  • Develop regular reporting packages, investment performance reviews, and risk/variance analysis.
  • Identify optimisation opportunities across operations, financing, and commercial parameters.
  • Support ESG reporting and ensure compliance with sustainability and performance frameworks.

5. Stakeholder Communication & Materials

  • Prepare high-impact presentations, investment memoranda, and strategic briefing notes.
  • Communicate complex financial and commercial insights in a structured and concise manner.
  • Coordinate meetings with senior leadership, investment partners, and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure all material is decision-ready, analytically sound, and aligned with governance expectations.

Your profile

  • Degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 2–4 years of experience in investment analysis, private equity, corporate finance, project finance, or infrastructure/energy transactions.
  • Strong financial modelling and valuation skills, including DCF, comparable transactions, and precedent analysis.
  • Transaction track-record with M&A processes, due diligence workflows, and transaction execution.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple analytical and process workstreams in fast-moving environments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience engaging cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented, structured, and able to synthesise complex problems into clear recommendations.
