OKThis year, Hyundai will deliver 50 fuel cell electric trucks to the Swiss transport and logistics industry. The hydrogen required to drive the trucks is produced right next door to the Gösgen hydropower plant. Hydrospider AG's 2 MW electrolyser will produce up to 300 tons of hydrogen per year. Hydrospider is a joint venture between Alpiq (45 %), H2 Energy (45 %) and Linde (10 %). The green hydrogen is produced with renewable hydropower from the Gösgen power plant, thereby ensuring emission-free mobility. Alpiq can also utilise the electricity from the Gösgen hydropower plant if the prices on the electricity market are low.
The Gösgen hydrogen production plant is Hydrospider AG’s first project and is currently the largest plant of its type in Switzerland. Further production facilities will be built in the near future to accommodate Hyundai’s plans to deliver a total of 1,600 hydrogen trucks to Switzerland by 2025.
