Kaplan Turbine Cotlan

The Cotlan small hydropower station that is located in the municipality of Rüti in the Swiss canton of Glarus was constructed in 1936 and renovated between 2015 and 2017.


Gravières Windpark

The Gravières wind park has a total output of 11 MW. Acquired by Alpiq in 2008, the wind park is situated near Montélimar in the Department of Drôme.


KW Grüneta

The Grüneta small hydropower plant is located in the municipality of Müllheim in the canton of Thurgau and generates electricity for the equivalent of more than 300 households.


TWKW Striempel

The Striempel small hydropower station in the municipality of Langnau am Albis in the canton of Zurich generates electricity using the water that feeds the drinking water reservoir.


Drinking water power station in Trans (Canton GR), Switzerland

The village of Trans is located approximately 1400 metres above sea level in the Canton of Graubünden. In 2009, at the same time as the municipality's drinking water network was refurbished, the Trans drinking water power plant was constructed.


TWKW Tomils

The Tomils small hydropower station was constructed during the course of the renovation of the drinking water supply of the municipality of Tomils.


KW Mühle

The Mühle small hydropower station in the municipality of Weinfelden in the canton of Thurgau is powered by water from the River Thur and has been operational since 1950.


KW Model

The Model small hydropower station on the River Thur in Weinfelden in the canton of Thurgau generates 2,510,000 kWh of electricity per year.


KW Hagerhüsli

With an output of 500 kW, the Hagerhüsli small hydropower station generates sufficient electricity to supply more than 600 households in the canton of Berne.


KW Bätterkinden

The Bätterkinden small hydropower station in the canton of Berne was constructed in the centre of the village of Bätterkinden in 1984 and completely refurbished in 2001.


KW Buchholz

In 1892, in order to drive his mill with hydropower, Victor Eberle constructed a 15 meter high concrete dam in the bed of the River Glatt on the border between the municipalities of Gossau and Flawil (canton of St. Gallen).

Büttenen 1 & 2

KW Büttenen 1 & 2

The run-of-river power stations Büttenen 1 & 2, which are located in the municipality of Grellingen (canton Basel-Land) generate electricity for the equivalent of 1,200 households.


KW Moos

The hydroelectric power station Moos, constructed in 1945 and refurbished in 1998, generates electricity that covers the consumption of more than 1,300 households.


KW Walzmühle (SIGG)

The Walzmühle (SIGG) run-of-river power station is powered by the River Murg and has been in service since 1960.


Murkart small hydroelectric power plant

The Murkart run-of-river power station, which is located on the River Murg upstream from the town of Frauenfeld, was totally renovated in 2008 following a fire.

Mühle Matzingen

KW Mühle Matzingen

Already during the 1950s, water from the River Murg provided the energy to drive the mills in Matzingen.


KW Eisenhammer

The Isenhammer (also known as Eisenhammer) small hydropower station is located near the village of Flawil in the canton of St. Gallen.



The Tambobach small hydropower station is located on the River Tambo in the municipality of Splügen in the canton of Graubünden. It was put into operation in August 2012 after a construction period of only eight months. The installed capacity is 1.8 MW.


Drinking water power station in Riein (Canton GR), Switzerland

The Alpiq subsidiary Alpiq EcoPower constructed a drinking water power station on an alp above the village of Riein (canton of Graubünden).

Brugg- & Sittermühle

KW Bruggmühle & Sittermühle

Located in the municipality of Bischofszell in the canton of Thurgau, the two small hydropower stations Bruggmühle and Sittermühle have been generating electricity from renewable energy sources since 1930.


KW Widen

The Widen small hydropower plant was constructed in 1989 and is located in the municipality of Weinfelden in the canton of Thurgau.

Le Bayet

Le Bayet Kleinwasserkraftwerk

The Le Bayet small hydroelectric power station, which Alpiq acquired in 2008, is located in the French Alps near Albertville. It is the first small hydroelectric power station acquired by the Alpiq Group in France. The generated electricity is equivalent to the average annual requirement for around 3400 households.


Narzole Kleinwasserkraftwerk

The Narzole (CN) small hydroelectric power station is situated in the Piemont Region (Italy) and is being operationally managed by Alpiq Hydro Italia S.r.l., a company of the Alpiq group. The power station is operating since 2004 and uses the hydro energy from the Sarmassa canal.


KW Seon

The small hydropower station in the municipality of Seon in the canton of Aargau is located on the River Aabach between Lake Hallwil and the River Aare.

Riva Valdobbia (Vercelli)

Riva Valdobbia small hydro power station

The small hydroelectric power station in Italy's Piedmont region has been harnessing the power of the Vogna torrent since the spring of 2009. Electricity is generated fully in keeping with the principle of sustainable management of the costly resource of water. By investing in renewable energy, Alpiq is helping to protect the climate.


Wehr Winznau

At the end of 2003 the old turbine generator group was replaced with a new machine at the cost of around CHF 1.2 million. The small hydro power station now generates some 60 % more electricity than the old weir turbine. The volume of electricity produced meets the needs of around 480 households in the region.


KW Freienstein

The former spinning mill in Freienstein (canton Zurich) was constructed in 1836. When it was closed in the 1990s, the two existing turbines were decommissioned.


Small power plants on the Birs

The Nenzlingen hydroelectric power station derives its name from the municipality in the canton of Basel-Land in which it is located.


Wind Turbine Aero-rossa - Sicily

The system has been in service since September 2011 and consists of 42 wind turbines that are installed in the provinces of Caltanisetta, Palermo and Agrigento. The wind farm provides an output power of 84 MW.


Kazanlak Windfarm

After a construction period of about half a year and investments of around EUR 80 million, the first Alpiq wind farm in Bulgaria has gone into operation. The Vetrocom wind farm is situated in the city of Kazanlak, 200 kilometres east of the capital, Sofia.


Cers Windpark

In 2010 Alpiq acquired a holding in the Cers wind park. The system is situated in the well-known wine growing area of Les Corbières not far from the town of Carcassonne. The installed power is 7.5 MW.

Alagna (Vercelli)

Alagna small hydro power station

The clear waters of the River Sesia in the Italian region of Piedmont are revered among anglers as the cradle of fly fishing. In the winter sports resort of Alagna, nor far from the source, the small hydroelectric power station generates environmentally friendly natural electricity.
