Fossil Fuel Power Plants
The coal-fired power station, in which Alpiq holds a 20 percent stake, is situated in Brindisi's industrial zone, close to the harbour where large coal and oil tankers dock. The facility was built in 1964 and has been continually enlarged since then. At present, only two of four units are in operation. Part of the facility is being converted to a ...
The Kladno power station complex near Prague supports Alpiq's trading and sales activities in the Czech Republic. Alpiq aquired the complex of four power station units in 2002. Coal is the primary fueld, transformed by state-of-the-art technology into electrical and steam energy outputs.
The thermal power station near Milazzo converts thermal energy into electrical energy. Water from the lake is heated by the plant's steam generators, turning it into steam which is fed to the six steam turbines. Here it is used to spin the turbines, which drive the electrical generators.
The plant is located in the town of Zlin in the south-east of the Czech Republic. It produces and delivers electrical energy, processing heat and district heating and has an electrical capacity of 66 MW and a thermal capacity of 377 MW.
