Combined Cycle Power Plants
Alpiq is planning to build a modern gas-fired combined-cycle power plant in the small commune of Monchy-au-Bois, some 180 kilometers north of Paris.
Alpiq has implemented its first power generation project in France, in the small rural community of Bayet. The 408 megawatt gas-fired combined-cycle Bayet power station has been in operation since 1 July 2011 and generates an annual output of 1550 gigawatts of electricity.
The Biella Power plant is located in Cerreto Castello, approximately 10 km east of Biella, in the Piedmont region. The plant is configured as a combined-cycle power plant with two gas turbines, two heat recovery steam generators, one steam turbine and an air-cooled condenser for an approximate net power output of 20 MW. The combined-cycle power ...
Originally built in 1953, the Chivasso power station was renovated from the ground up in 2004. The modern cogeneration power station is situated between the left bank of the River Po and the junction with the Cavour canal. The facility consists of two modules, each with a gas and steam turbine fuelled by natural gas.
Alpiq acquired the Csepel power station complex in 2002. Csepel consists of two plants, a modern gas-fired combined cycle power station built in 2000 and a renovated thermal power station dating from 1984. The gas-fired power station meets around six percent of Hungary's total electricity requirement. Situated on the banks of the River Danube in ...
The 43 MW gas-fired power station is designed primarily to generate balancing power for the Czech power supply system. The facility is designed to reach full load from a cold start within only 30 minutes. In addition, it has the capability to start without an external power supply. This power station is the first facility with this capability in ...
Alpiq officially opened a new industrial power station on 23 October 2009 in Monthey (Valais). The investment volume for this efficient heat/power cogeneration plant was around CHF 100 million.
The 100 MWe Novel S.p.A. plant, located in the province of Novara, is the result of cooperation between Geogreen (49 % stake) and Alpiq (51% stake). The power station provides electricity and steam to the chemical plant Radici Chimica.
Fired exclusively by natural gas, this thermal power station has been in operation since December 2005. High priority is accorded to environmental protection. The plant has gas and steam turbines and is connected to the city of Piacenza's district heating system. The waters of the River Po are used for cooling.
As a cutting edge technology model, Plana del Vent is configured as a combined cycle power plant with two modules of 400MW, fitted with a gas turbine and a heat recovery steam generator each one. Thanks to its 800MW total capacity, Plana del Vent can supply enough electricity to cover the annual consumption of two million households.
Through its affiliate EnPlus, Alpiq has built a gas-fired, combined cycle power station in San Severo (province of Foggia, Italy) with an electrical capacity of 400 megawatts and a thermal capacity of around 700 megawatts.
Situated 40 kilometers east of the city of Mantua, the power station consists of two production modules, each of which have a gas and steam turbine operating on a combined cycle. The combined-cycle power plant is exclusively fired by natural gas and is cooled by water from the River Po.
By acquiring the Spreetal power station, Alpiq has gained its first production capacities in Germany. The facility is situated in the Sustec industry park in Spreetal, some 100 kilometers north of Dresden. Alpiq purchased the power station in 2008, converting it over the course of one year and completing the work in 2009.
This thermal power station is located on the bank of the Naviglio Grande in the province of Milan. The plant has three conventional oil- and gas-fired operating units. Modern technical installations ensure minimal emissions into the environment. The plant is connected to the national 380-kV electricity grid.
In the province of Vercelli, Alpiq joined forces with Framo Finanziaria to set up Alpiq Vercelli S.r.l. The company is 95% owned by Alpiq. The 50 MW combined-cycle power plant provides electricity and steam to Polioli, a company controlled by Framo Finanziaria, for its own chemical production.
