The Bulgarian ministry of economy has awarded Alpiq the title of “Investor of the year” for the Vetrocom wind park.
After a construction period of about half a year and investments of around EUR 80 million, the first Alpiq wind farm in Bulgaria has gone into operation. The Vetrocom wind farm is situated in the city of Kazanlak, 200 kilometres east of the capital, Sofia.
The favourable wind conditions, existing infrastructure and grid connection prompted Alpiq to install nine more wind turbines on the heights of Kazanlak. These have been in operation since the beginning of 2012.
All 29 wind turbines have a collective capacity of 73 Megawatts and generate some 210 GWh of electricity per year.
