Murkart small hydroelectric power plant - A brush-furnished fishway

The brush-furnished fishway at Murkart small hydroelectric power plant.

The Murkart small hydroelectric power plant in Frauenfeld was completely renovated in 2008 and now supplies electricity to around 450 households in the region. A brush-furnished fishway now enables fish to swim through the dam on their way upstream. By creating biotopes close to the dam, Alpiq has made an important contribution towards improving the ecological value of the power plant's surroundings.

Murkart belongs to Isento AG, which is based in Thal and operates six power plants in Eastern Switzerland. Isento AG was founded in 1990 and has been wholly owned by Alpiq EcoPower Ag since 15 March 2007.
