As the largest grid owner in Switzerland, Alpiq also has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to delivering services to external grid operators.

For distribution grid operators, the liberalisation of Switzerland's electricity market entails additional tasks and obligations in order to comply with the legal requirements. This includes the provision of metering data, for which grid operators are responsible.

Our services also cover the checking and maintenance of your lines, as well as engineering and project management for line installation and substation construction. We also provide communication equipment, calculate and install telecommunication antennae, conduct grid analyses and calculate grid statistics on your behalf.

Alpiq offers a number of external transmission related services, such as:

• Inspection and maintenance of third party lines: Alpiq inspects and maintains high-voltage lines, especially for the Swiss railroad company CFF and Grande Dixence SA.

• Engineering services: we carry out engineering works and manage line and station building projects for various partners.

• Use of communications resources: Alpiq makes fiber-optic capacity available for use by other companies.

• Calculation and installation of telecommunications aerials: we will undertake to install elecommunications aerials on its pylons for the various operators and carry out technical studies with a view to building the aerial platforms.

• Network surveys and calculations: alone or in cooperation with other companies, we will undertake network surveys and calculations, in Switzerland and abroad.

• Measuring and surveying electromagnetic fields: at the request of individuals living close to high-voltage lines, our engineers carry out various electromagnetic field measurements.  They also take measurements during the construction of or changes to power lines.
