Alpiq in: Europe

Projects benefit from our comprehensive know-how

When it comes to managing projects, Alpiq can draw on a wealth of resources. Whatever the project - hydroelectric power station, nuclear energy, renewable energy sources or control technology - we have the know-how that's needed, and implement a wide range of projects for our customers across Europe.

Projects are our business! For example:

  • Work on construction of gas-fired combined-cycle power stations in San Severo (Italy) and Bayet (France) is well advanced.

  • In Switzerland we are expanding our production portfolio e.g. by re-commissioning the Cleuse-Dixence hydroelectric power plant.

  • The Nant de Drance project in the lower Valais also comes under this category. The project involves construction of a pumped-storage power station in conjunction with the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB).

Alpiq is strongly committed to harnessing power from renewable energy sources. We have a share in a wind farm in Rocca Rossa (Sicily, Italy), and are currently supporting projects for small hydroelectric power stations in Switzerland, France and Norway.

By implementing comprehensive line installation projects, we help to ensure security of supplies and the operational reliability of Switzerland's energy network. One current example of these efforts is in the Valais, where we are upgrading a high-voltage line in order to improve the strategic West-East electricity transit axis.
