In July 2010 the Federal Office of Energy (FOE) approved Alpiq's plans for construction of the new high-voltage line between Chamoson and Chippis in the canton of Valais. The approval means that the 380-kV line, around 28 kilometres in length, can be entirely installed as an overhead line.

The world's largest off-shore wind farm is currently being constructed in the North Sea off the coast of Germany. GA Energieanlagenbau Nord GmbH, a subsidiary of the AAT Group Heidelberg, has been commissioned to build the high-voltage grid connection route.
