Final spurt in San Severo
The gas-fired combined cycle power station will be connected to the grid by the end of 2010
The work on the construction of the 400 megawatt San Severo power station in southern Italy, in which Alpiq holds a sixty percent stake through its company EnPlus, is running according to plan.
In August the work on the generation systems has been successfully completed. This includes the gas turbine, the steam turbine, the electrical generator, the air-cooled condenser, the heat recovery steam generator and the step-up transformer for HV energization.
The first firing and the synchronisation of the gas turbine has been done in August, the synchronisation of the steam turbine followed in October. The functional testing of the power station is currently on its way.
If everything continues to go according to plan, the power station should be put into operation by the end of 2010.
