Alpiq transfers its ultra-high-voltage grid to Swissgrid

Swissgrid now owns the 1,800 kilometres of UHV power lines that up to now were the property of Alpiq. As part of the transaction, Swissgrid also assumes responsibility for continuing the high-priority plans to expand the transmission system.

Alpiq receives compensation and additional shares in Swissgrid in return for grid transfer

With its decision issued today, ElCom has cleared the way for the transfer of the transmission grid at the end of 2012. In return for the planned grid transfer, Alpiq is to receive additional shares in Swissgrid as well as a loan claim worth more than CHF 400 million repayable in instalments.

Chamoson – Chippis ultra-high voltage line: a landmark decision

The Federal Administrative Court has today confirmed planning approval for the ultra-high voltage overhead line between Chamoson and Chippis. The application for laying the line underground was rejected. For Alpiq this is an important step. Top priority is accorded to construction of the 380-kV line by 2015.

Therwil: Construction of new high-voltage transformer station

At the beginning of November 2010, construction work started on a new 220/145/50-kV substation in Therwil (BL). Alpiq Grid Ltd.
