Alpiq Produzione Italia Management S.r.l. manages the power generating facilities of the Alpiq Group in Italy. The Group has interests in 19 power stations with a total installed capacity of around 2,000 MW
Alpiq Produzione Italia Management S.r.l. manages all the activities related to power plant production, from building permits to constructon and operation. Highly specialised employees are responsible for identifrying and exploring new production opportunities as well as for obtaining the requisite permits. Specially trained engineers monitor the operation and maintenance of the facilities. Asset Management is responsible for all the economic and financial aspects, while Permitting and Environment is responsible for environmental issues related to plant operations.
Gas-fired combined-cycle power plants
The Alpiq Group has interests in 19 power stations in Italy, including the gas-fired combined-cycle power station in San Severo (FG). The proprietor EnPlus is jointly owned by Alpiq (60%), Avelar Energy (30%) and En&En (10%). Other gas-fired combined-cycle power stations were built in conjunction with key industrial concerns, such as Novel (NO) in partnership with the Radici Group, and Alpiq Vercelli with Polioli.
Small hydroelectric power stations and wind farms
To ensure a diversified mix of energy supplies, an investment programme was launched with the focus on renewable energies. Three small hydroelectric power stations in the Piedmont region of Italy have been joined by two wind farms in Sicily with a total of 73 wind turbines, for an annual production volume of around 220 GWh. In addition, the Group holds a 30% investment interest in the Italian oeprations of the Moncada Energy Group, one of the most important private producers of renewable wind power and a joint founder of M&A Rinnovabili. This company builds and manages onshore and offshore wind farms as well as solar and biomass power stations. Already it boasts an installed capacity of 105 MW, and future projects are aiming for 1,000 MW.
